BenQ Group has made a long-term commitment to sustainable development. This summer, the company recruited members from its wide team, which included 25 companies and over 1,500 people, to successfully complete the "Guarding the Ocean, Beach Cleanup +1" coastal cleanup trip. In total, 3.1 metric tons of garbage were removed. Global plastic output exceeds four billion tons per year, with 12.7 million tons of plastic debris entering the oceans annually. The initiative's beach cleanup trip sought to create an attitude and action toward reducing plastic usage at the source, thereby contributing to the preservation of beautiful beaches for future generations.
During the summer, the "Guarding the Ocean, Beach Cleanup +1" Cleanup Tour Train from BenQ Group went to different places all over Taiwan. The final visit on August 12 in the south half of saw employees and their families working together to clean the beach. Participants stayed hydrated by using eco-friendly cups, emphasizing environmental responsibility. The hands-on beach cleanup not only boosted environmental awareness, but also gave youngsters practical experience with the necessity of ecological preservation and source reduction, passing on ideals of environmental sustainability within families.
The increasing impact of global warming, as seen by this summer's extraordinary historical high temperatures, was emphasized by Peter Chen, Chairman of BenQ Group. He hoped that by participating in beach cleanup initiatives, employees would become more concerned about environmental sustainability. Plastic bags, fishing nets, and other marine trash on coasts considerably contribute to the extinction of marine life. Without a reduction in the usage of disposable items, commonly consumed fish could become extinct.
The three beach cleanup trips retrieved 3.1 metric tons of coastal garbage, including ordinary items like plastic bottles, fishing nets, and ropes, as well as potentially deadly broken glass. The coastline was restored to its original beauty via teamwork, thorough cleaning, and rubbish sorting.
BenQ Group places a great emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainable development, adhering to a people-centric core concept and implementing a "source reduction policy" internally. The company sells reusable cups to help customers incorporate green living into their daily lives. Qisda's beach cleanup initiatives raise environmental awareness among employees, inspire family members to participate, and carry on a dedication to environmental protection
